Clos Du Val was founded in 1972 by French winemaker Bernard Portet and American businessman John Goelet. Bernard Portet is still creating distinguished Napa Valley wines with decidedly "Old World" style, now with the help of vice president John Clews. Clos Du Val is a beautiful winery along Napa Valley's Silverado Trail.
