Benziger Winery

Benziger Winery is a family owned, family run, family founded wine-making affair! Their collective objective is to produce wines that mirror the unique Sonoma County terroir that their grapes call home. One of the key ways that they ensure that this actually happens, is by the use of organic and biodynamic farming measures that protect and prosper the land by maintaining soil sustainability along the way. Benziger classifies their growing goals into three unique subsets: 1. Farming for Flavor 2. Farming Organically 3. Farming Biodynamically.

Wines to Try at Benziger Winery:

Benziger bottles about 20 different wines each year, making it tough to narrow down which wines to try. But, if pressed, don't miss out on any of their Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnays or their 2005 de Coelo Pinot Noir (truly a stunning wine!).

Benziger Tours and Tastings:

For $10 you can taste six wines at the main tasting bar. Kick in another $5, and you can sample five Reserve and Biodynamic wines. You won't be disappointed with either offering! Winery tours are daily from 11:00am to 3:30pm (weather cooperating). The 45-minute tour is a Tram Tour, where you will check out the biodynamic vineyards, fermentation, crush and barrel caves. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for those under 21 years of age. This is a great place to start a wine country vacation, because they do a fantastic job of giving a good foundation for how wine is made, from grape to glass.
