Guide Review - Why Wine Lovers Will Flock to the New Sonoma Diet
It's not every day that I'm asked to take a peek at a new diet book, after all this is a wine site with a focus on good wine and subsequently good food. However, The New Sonoma Diet, based largely on lively Mediterranean-inspired recipes, offers a particular draw for wine enthusiasts looking to shed a few pounds. A daily glass of wine is actually encouraged. I don't know about you, but I've never seen a diet book that spends three pages on the virtues of wine in the daily diet (after the first 10 days) and goes on to inspire readers to discover how, "Wine reminds us that mealtime is about pleasure, not just filling up. Savor the wine, taste the food..." I think I'm in!
With The New Sonoma Diet there are no calorie counts or long lists of forbidden foods. The emphasis is on fresh, local foods - lots of flavor-filled veggies, olive oils, fish and other heart healthy cuts of meat, whole grains, legumes, dark chocolate and as mentioned earlier, but certainly worth repeating, wine.
