Wine of the Week: Santiago Ruiz Blanco 2004 (Rias Baixas - Spain) $18

Tuesday February 7, 2006
The Santiago Ruiz Blanco is one white wine that can certainly stand the test of winter's reds and hold its own when it comes to food pairings or as an apertif. This is an elegant, full-bodied white wine made from Spain's albarino grape, which provides an excellent acid structure to showcase the delicate fruit flavors of apple, peach and citrusy limes. The Rias Baixas region of northwestern Spain is worth keeping a steady eye on in the coming years, as a rising star in the world of wine.
