The 2011 Poet's Leap Riesling from Washington's Columbia Valley represents a first-class off-dry, white wine find for the holidays. Expect full throttle aromatics, taking the form of ripe peach, floral and mineral tones, from expressive start to vibrant finish.  The palate is equally intriguing with a medley of melon, citrus and stone fruits taking center stage. A backdrop of well-honed acidity and balanced residual sugar gives the fruit a forward feel without an overly cloying demeanor, the finish is spirited and energetic.

This Riesling represents all that the grape is known and admired for and will make a happy match with the likes of the season's exotic Asian inspirations as well as the traditional takes of honey baked ham, smoked pork and roasted duck.
