The 2009 Rutherford Ranch Chardonnay is dominated by ripe pear and Gala apple on the nose with a sweet spin of honeysuckle. This Chardonnay's palate profile moves quickly from apple into stone fruit, with apricot and peach taking the limelight, a citrus zest drops in but is quickly surrounded by waves of heady spice. Full-bodied, great acidity and decidedly delicious whether sipped on its own or in concert with the likes of cream-based sauces, rich, soft cheese (brie, manchego, goat) or a variety of seasonal seafood, this is a very reasonably priced Chardonnay to keep on hand for all of your white wine-loving guests this season.
