I've recently tasted several of Ranch Zabaco's latest offerings and have to say they are worth looking for - they are pretty consistent, balanced and stand at a fair price (they are also well distributed which will make the search worthwhile). The full-bodied, '07 "Heritage Vines" Zinfandel relies on fruit sourced from Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, dark cherry and blackberry alongside a bit of pepper and spice dominate the palate.

This wine needed a few minutes to settle in the glass and gave an amazing impromptu pairing with dark chocolate. Consider pairing it with sausage, barbecue, grilled game and other hearty meats.
