Washington wines have been gaining a solid consumer base rapidly over the last few years, for a myriad of reason's, not the least of which is the collective eye towards quality from Washington's premier wineries. It's no secret that Washington State is recognized for its enduring and expanding legacy of agricultural success, from apple orchards to potato fields and beyond, but it's been the extension of Washington's green thumb into the viticulture scene over the last decade that has many in the wine world sitting up and taking note.

Growing choice grapes, for wineries that are earning international accolades, Washington State's collective regions and wines are like the hometown hero that has made it big, yet doesn't let it go completely to his head - maintaining an inviting, approachable style, with an uncompromising eye on quality and a healthy handle on pricing. With a reputation for remarkable wines at fair prices, it's easy to see why the Washington wine fan clubs just keeps growing. To understand Washington wines in general, it's helpful to get a solid primer on the major Washington wine regions and wineries.
