Wine of the Week: Ancient Peaks Zinfandel 2006 (CA) $15
Thursday January 1, 2009
The Ancient Peaks Zinfandel is an amazing wine find - incredible flavor profile, versatile and extremely easy on the wallet! This Zinfandel from Paso Robles, offers a little lower alcohol level than you might expect, making for even more flexibility. The palate is loaded with ripe, juicy raspberry, cherry and blackberry along with subtle peppery spice. The structure is well-honed and the food pairing options are really varied. We enjoyed this wine with elk sausage and it worked remarkably well with dark chocolate for dessert. Other pairing options include grilled game, barbecue, mushroom-based entrees or cajun finds.
