Vincent Pouilly-Fuisse Propriete Marie-Antoinette Vincent 2005 (FR) $22
Thursday April 3, 2008
Jean-Jacques Vincent is known for his winemaking magic in the Burgundy region, and he has outdone himself with a truly marvelous example of the famed "white Burgundy," the Vincent Pouilly-Fuisse Propriete Marie-Antoinette, a Chardonnay as we know and love it here in the U.S. In general, the 2005 vintage has shown itself to be of noteable power and strength, yet possessing an elegance and refinement that will make this vintage a year to be reckoned with.

This particular wine displays good color - light yellow with a touch of green on the edges. There are floral aromas mixed wtih a bit of earthiness on the nose. The flavors are full, crisp and poignant - full of rich pear and ripe melon, driven by a marked minerality and underlying acidity. A vibrant white wine that will pair well with oysters, seafood, chicken entrees and many salads.
