Valentine's Day: Pommery's Guide to Champagne Personality

Thursday January 24, 2008

Pommery has a fun, witty way to figure out your perfect Champagne for Valentine's day.

There is no “one size fits all” in the realm of romance. For some, nothing says L-O-V-E more succinctly than a five-carat fancy pink diamond solitaire ring (with baguettes), while others will cherish a new vacuum cleaner (with attachments). Champagne Pommery has always known that romance is simply a matter of style, and offers distinctly different bubblies to suit every Valentine. Which to choose? This year, Pommery gives Cupid a little helping hand with a Champagne Personality Profile Guide.
If she prefers: Cashmere to cotton, jazz to Jay-Z, The Kentucky Derby to the Superbowl, straight up chocolate and vanilla to the flavor of the month, the “aprés ski” to the slopes, You to anyone else …then she is classic, but not traditional, definitely a Champagne Pommery Brut Rosé ($70) girl. This non-vintage Champagne is full-bodied with a fruity character that remains fresh and delicate with a fragrant nose redolent of just-ripe strawberries. Versatile enough to pair equally well with a romantic supper of grilled or smoked salmon, prosciutto and melon, roast pork or poached lobster, like her Brut Rosé NV has a style all its own.
If she prefers: A game of Connect Four to a game of chess, drinking from a bottle to drinking from a glass, surprises to guarantees, the underdog to the leading man,a day doing taxes with you to a week on a tropical isle with anyone else …then she is spirited and unconventional, and POP Rosé Champagne (aka, Pink POP) is the bubbly for her. Pink POP ($13.99/187 ml bottle; $55.96/4-pack) even looks the part for Valentine’s: it is housed in sassy deep pink single-serve 187ml bottle equipped with a small straw for easy effervescent sipping. Pommery Pink POP is genuine AOC Rosé Champagne with reduced fizz and just a hint of sweetness to make it easier to drink. Pale pink in color, this refreshing Champagne has a delightful bouquet of luscious red fruits from currant to pomegranate and is fabulous with desserts.
