Wine of the Week: A to Z Pinot Noir 2006 (CA) $18

Tuesday January 8, 2008

This Pinot Noir from Oregon is a delight from start to finish. Deep ruby color catches the initial perception while the aromas promise an earthy, minerality amidst ripe red fruit, the palate certainly delivers what the nose whispers. The palate profile is well rooted in deep berry fruit - raspberries, blueberries and cherries dominate with currants and strawberries offering subtle input. There is also a bit of smokey haze wrapped around the finish. Overall, this light-to-medium bodied red wine offers well weighted acidity. The A to Z Pinot Noir is a terrific wine to pair with roasted chicken, a tasty jambalaya or even enchiladas.
