Wine of the Week: Turnbull Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 (CA) $45
Friday September 28, 2007
Turnbull enjoys quite a reputation for producing consistent, high quality Cabs at reasonable prices when compared to others in its class and price point. The 2004 version of the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception. This is a very dependable wine with a bold stance, a broad balance and an overall appeal that will keep you coming back for more. The aromas are intense with a vivid smokiness and damp earth combined with dark, ripe fruit. The palate delivers what the nose promises, in abundant cherry and blackberry fruit, coated with solid tannins and an intricated finish. This is the perfect wine for fall - pairs well with roasts, meat and potatoe dishes and many other meat-based comfort foods.
