Wine Sales with Screw Cap Closures are on the Rise

Wine.com has compiled data to illustrate how well received the screw cap closures have become in the wine market place, both by producers as well as consumers. Almost 18% of their sales last year were wines that contained screw cap closures, a significant number that suggests that consumers are not likely to be turned off by "corkless" wines. Read more...

Since these closures have been introduced, I have to say that I am surprised at the adaptiveness to the change throughout the industry, as well as the consumer. I have found the consumer to be rather comfortable with the new closures. As a bartender, it’s been very convenient on a busy night, although the servers wish they could find a classier presentation.
As a Australian wine consumer I must say that I’ve become a 100% convert to the screw cap. I’ve purchased far too many “corked” bottles in the past - never again will I risk it!
