Wine of the Week: Columbia Crest Merlot Grand Estates 2004 (WA) $7

Tuesday June 12, 2007
Columbia Crest is known for producing easy-going wines at great prices. The 2004 Grand Estates Merlot is no different, this is an approachable, medium-bodied red wine with lots of cherry mixed with blackberry and a touch of spiced mocha on the palate. Mild tannins provide a supple texture and a bit of backbone. This a perfect wine to have on hand for lazy summer afternoons. Give it a go with pizza, fruit dishes, pineapple salsa on salmon or simply Gouda cheese and crackers.
