Wine of the Week: Schweiger Vineyards Merlot 2001 (CA) $30

Thursday August 10, 2006
The 2001 Schweiger Vineyards Merlot is 100% Merlot grape, somewhat unusual in itself, as Merlot is often blended with other varietals to soften and smooth out an overly structured, stiff wine, like a Cabernet Sauvignon for example. This Merlot offers a wide array of assorted strawberries, raspberries and blackberries on the flavor profile, followed by silky semi-sweet chocolate and a subtle espresso flavoring mixed in. Simply delicious and well-suited for pairing with a myriad of summer's finest bounty.
