A Look at Wine Labels

Peruse any wine merchant's shelves and the one thing that has come to stand out even more than the wine's varietal or vintage is the label! These New World wine labels offer everything from vibrant colors, to cartoons, to wine wit and wisdom on a 3"x3" bottle canvas. What's with the new labels and are they as appealing as the traditional labels of old? The wine market has become increasingly competitive and wineries and distributors alike are going all out to make their bottle stand out from the crowd - the label is often the first step in this endeavor.

Was wondering how to approach a winery with label designs or do they have their own in-house people? I live in Sonoma County.
