Wine of the Week: Saintsbury "Garnet" Pinot Noir 2003

Monday June 6, 2005
Saintsbury vineyards nestled in the Napa Valley, is a Pinot Noir Lover's delight. Their Pinot Noir wines come from grapes that are born and raised in the Carneros district, where the climate is cooler and the fog is heavier than other areas in the Napa Valley. The result is a beautifully balanced, lighter bodied red wine that is reminiscent of French Burgundy wines. The color is a deep reddish purple and the nose offers a touch of vanilla mixed with ripe red fruits. The flavors are cherry and strawberry dominant with a flash of spice on the finish. This is a super value wine available at most places for under $15 a pop.
